Lameras, born into a family from Tinos with a long tradition in marble sculpting, easily combined traditional and abstract representations in his work. This particular female bust reminds us of the sculping values of the classical era, seen however through a more contemporary gaze revealing an excellent knowledge of the movements of European modernism.  Indeed, Lameras is among the first artists in Greece to embrace the principles of Abstraction: He was a founding member of the visual arts group Akraioi (1949) along with Alekos Kontopoulos, Yannis Gaitis, and other important artists.
