He was born in 1916 in Istanbul and moved to Paris in 1922 with his family, following the persecutions. At a very young age he became acquainted with the modernist movements and became fascinated with surrealism. Always restless and multifarious, he moved in various fields and successfully used different techniques. His work titled la reine (1977) belongs to a peculiar period of his artistic creation where he uses a sui generis, almost calligraphical painting rooted in the automatic writing of the surrealists. The work’s exceptional originality derives from the contrast with the naturalistic elements present on its right part.
