Although painting was his main area of interest, Ghika also created a remarkable number of sculptures, many of which he exhibited in the gallery Trito Mati in 1984. Today, most of them are part of the collection in the Ghika Gallery of the Benaki Museum as well as in private collections. Their majority is inspired by mythological themes, as well as by the Homeric cycle. Only few are focused on the female form, like this particular work where the liaison with French modernism is evident.
