Gounaropoulos’ characteristic vernacular makes his painting recognizable even by non-experts. He lived and studied in Paris where he acquired great knowledge of impressionism and cubism, integrating numerous of their achievements in his own work. From the 30s onward he begins to form his own vernacular, dominated by colder colors, intense contours, as well as an immaterial, almost aerial disposition prevailing almost in his entire artistic creation.
